Do You Wonder Why Your Penis and Testicles Sweat? – Penis and Testicular Mysteries Explained
One fact about men is that their penis and testicles sweat. The amount they sweat will depend on your current environment at the time (hot, cold), how active you are (running around the block or watching television), your diet, and your genetic disposition.
Surprisingly, even if you don’t feel condensation (droplets) of sweat on your body or testicles, this doesn’t mean that you aren’t sweating. The reason for this is that once the moisture of sweat reaches the surface, it typically evaporates immediately, or is absorbed by your clothing. It also depends on the percent-relative humidity of your environment. So, if you are in a dry environment, the sweat will typically mysteriously evaporate without you even knowing it. If you are in a more humid environment, it’s much more likely that the sweat will begin to coalesce and form droplets on your skin.
Typically, even people who are sedentary and stay cool indoors all day long will sweat at least a liter of sweat in a 48-hour time frame. Sweating also burns calories. There are differing opinions (it’s not the easiest thing to measure), but it is believed that to convert one-half a liter of body fluid into sweat burns up about 500 calories. When people exercise, they naturally sweat more. This is their body’s nature mechanism to help lower their body temperature. In fact, this is one of the main ways that “exercising” helps burn calories, that is, in the conversion of bodily fluids into sweat. Keep that in mind if you want to lose weight: the more you sweat, the more calories you are burning.
There are many reasons for sweating. First of all, it is the main mechanism of cooling down the body. However, the mechanism of sweating also has other important functions. For instance, it is a way of expelling toxins from the body. As the skin is the largest organ of the body, through sweating, it has the ability to help detoxify the body more than most people realize. Sweat also carries with it pheromones and other hormones that are involved in the sexual-attraction process.
As we mentioned, your testicles do sweat. In fact your penis sweats, too. Well, at least the penile shaft does, as there are very few sweat glands in the head of the penis. Probably the reason for this is because there are many more nerve receptors in the skin on the head of the penis, than in the skin of the penile shaft. Sweat glands would displace these nerve receptors and limit their number. As the penile head is the most sensitive and nerve-rich part of the penis (apart from the foreskin and the frenulum), it’s much more advantageous that the skin is loaded with these sensory receptors instead of sweat glands. I think you would agree, too. Mother Nature is smarter than we think and she can surprise us with her biological wisdom.
So, then, why do your testicles and your penile shaft sweat? Well, as we already mentioned, hormones will be secreted in the sweat which act to attract certain “female” partners that have hormone-specific receptors for certain types of male secretions. So, one woman may be more attracted to your penile and testicular sweat, because she has the right hormone receptor in her genetic makeup. If a woman doesn’t have this specific receptor, then she will not be “turned” on as much by your testicular and penile “scent.”
Of course, the main reason that the testicles sweat is to help reduce the temperature of the testicular “sack.” The reason for this is that sperm are very temperature sensitive. They have to be kept at a temperature that is lower than normal body temperature or they will die. This is why your testicles hang outside of your body. Now, when you get in a cold pool or cold shower, the dartos and cremasteric muscles will constrict to bring your testicles closer to your body. This is because the “cold” environment is too cold for the health of your sperm. So, your body shrinks up your testicles with these muscles to keep your sperm warmer by bringing them closer to your body.
When your testicles are too hot, then these muscles will extend (relax) and your testicles will hang down farther than normal. This is to keep your testicles farther from your body to escape the excess heat of the body. This is also why men who wear “boxers” and/or looser fitting pants, typically have healthier sperm than men who wear “Y” fronts or tight pants. “Y” fronts and/or tight pants keep the testicles too snug against the body and the testicles have a hard time constricting or distending to regulate sperm temperature.
Sweating of the testicles is normal as this is another mechanism your body uses to keep your testicles and sperm at the “right” temperature. When your testicles sweat, this helps reduce the temperature of your testicles, and thus, the temperature of your sperm (if things are getting too “hot” down below).
Men who wear “Y” fronts and/or tight pants will find that their testicles will sweat more than if one wears loose-fitting boxers and pants that are not overly tight.
Your penile shaft also sweats to reduce its temperature, and thus, your sperm temperature. Since your penis is typically in close proximity to your testicles, it has a direct impact on testicular and sperm temperature. This is also one of the reasons why your penis “shrinks” up or “hangs” lower, depending on the environment and clothing you are wearing (we are referring to the flaccid penile state in this example).
So, that’s why your testicles sweat. It’s an important physiological protective mechanism that help ensure that your sperm are healthy, strong, and ready for reproduction.
