Big Muscles On Small Bones
Growing up I was a skinny, skinny kid. During elementary school, there was only one other kid I knew who was thinner than me. I didn’t have natural genes to rely on. When I became interested in bodybuilding at the age of 15, I felt like I was fighting a losing battle, so to speak. I started working out when I was 15 but started doing serious (non-competitive) sports when I was 16. I finished my freshman year of high school as a skinny guy who was usually picked last or almost last for the team. I returned to school after summer break my sophomore year with a new body with great muscles and shape. This is a true story! Some of my friends that I’ve known since high school said, “What happened to you?” “You’re so big now!”
Well, let me tell you what happened to me. I received some very valuable information when I ordered a bodybuilding course. This course consisted of weighted and non-weighted exercises that were sent to me each week. I applied these routines as well as the advice on eating the right foods to build muscle. Shortly after that I joined the local YMCA and started working with a young bodybuilder who placed high in many bodybuilding competitions. He later won the Teen Mr. contest. USA. By the time I got back to school, I was no longer the skinny kid picked last for the team. Now I was strong and strong and became an athlete.
I was so strong and muscular that my picture was chosen for the year book. I joined the weightlifting team, representing the high school in several competitions against other schools. I won first place in my weight class and helped our team take first place overall in the country. All this I say about myself to say that little skin and bones is no excuse for not building muscle on your little body. Don’t use your genetics as an excuse.
There are benefits to small bones in building muscle. For example, your small wrists and ankles will make your arms and legs look bigger than when you build muscle. You see, building muscle size in your wrists and ankles is almost impossible because they are primarily bone and fat. You can see in my picture that my wrists are small. Likewise, you can generally tell a man’s early genetics by how big his wrists were and how small his bones were before he built muscles into his body.
Building quality muscle on a small frame is not only possible but can be beneficial due to the “illusion factor”. Your arms and legs can look bigger and more impressive, not to mention that you carry less body fat. So, don’t apologize for your genetics and do what I did; build those muscles!
