Karan Johar this time brings you the old coffee in a new cup. High school friends who are jealous and infatuated with the desire to win a competition is a time-tested script in Bollywood. But the director makes the film a delight for the audience by successfully incorporating the beautiful locations, designer clothes and the tongue of today’s youth.

Rohan (Varun Dhawan), a spoiled rich guy, throws his weight around at the school when Abhimanyu (Sidharth Malhotra), a young, hardworking and ambitious boy enters as a threat.

With a few scenes featuring Shanaya (Alia Bhatt), a rich, brand-loving girl trying to rekindle the love from her relationship with Rohan, the plot of the film is mostly about style. best friends become enemies, with one trying to win the title of ‘Student of the Year’ to make it big in life and the other to prove to his father that he’s not a bad son he has meaning anymore.

The script has nothing new to offer and is very predictable. Although adorned with characters like the gay dean (Rishi Kapoor), the script lacks the freshness that is expected from Bollywood A-listers like Karan Johar. This, combined with the plot of a 5-star school with world-class facilities and students wearing outlandish clothes made the script difficult to digest.

These three actresses get a good chance to show off their hot and enviable bodies on screen.

One thing is for sure, the road will not disappoint you. Karan Johar has once again lived up to his expectations. As far as music is concerned, the USP of this flick is- it uses a bunch of old Bollywood songs throughout the film, at different times. While the lyrics of ‘Ishq Wala Love’ raised eyebrows, the rest of the catchy tracks are entertaining. The narration taken, with expiring students narrating the story, along with video, is commendable.

Go for it, if you put style over substance. Another commercial actor, with a big budget, new look and entertainment.
