I Am Loved
When I was still a freshman, our class was asked by a peer counselor to describe ourselves. When she started enumerating our answers in the blackboard, I said aloud- I am loved! She looked back at me- “you are love??” No! I answered – I emphatically said… I AM LOVED!! Indeed I am loved! I am surrounded by people who loves me (well not everyone I guess but I sure do feel I am loved by those who truly cares)!
First and foremost I feel God’s love. My past blogs are on God’s love and the salvation He offers. There is no greater love than the Love of God and there is no greater evidence of love than Christ’s sacrifice on the cross… There are lots of people who cares but “no one ever cares for me like JESUS” It’s the way God loves that makes the difference. I will forever sing of the wonders of God’s love for me in eternity!
My family..with all our “eccentricities” and with all our new words we love to use yet not in any dictionary, with all the “luzvimin” houses we have lived in (ma, the xox on the carton stands fresh in my memory:), with our memories of Nanay, with all the 6 churches, with my memories of being awaken in the wee hours of the morning by Papa just to eat balut, barbecue and ice cream, my mother’s (bestfriend too!)’superb and out of the cookbooks cooking, with arion’s early hatred of the camera! With jeruel’s unforgettable journey from rtr to v&g…with our joy and sorrow shared….I am loved by Papa Dee, Mama Nee, Budoy and Putotoy!……and of course my friends! I believe Ive been blessed to have true friends all my life..from Tine (I think we’ve been friends even before we were able to read and write)! Until now with my new found friends in cabantan -what more can I say? I am loved. I MEAN IT! I AM LOVED! Ginhihigugma ako!
(I think I am inspired now to write a blog about my family and friends..but uhmm no, some other time I will.. I have felt over flowing love and joy enough to share through blogging but I intended to write this blog to the person I have come to know so DEARLY and and gave love unconditionally and accepted for what I am.. And its just rightful because today August 14,2008 is our first Wedding Anniversary!)
It was a seminar in STI (June 3, 2005 to be exact) when I enjoyed listening to a man spake crooked waray-waray. He was sure was a Visayan trying to help us understand his online internet business by trying to speak in our dialect..Much to his annoyance, Ate Sarah and I had the time of our life listening and laughing how he combined words from the two dialects. He just tried that hard that we did join the business, and we’ll yes! Needless to say but here I say..After that, I still have the time of my life knowing and laughing but this time, its together with this man.
While still in Bible school, I used to tell Weng- I will stay single for life! But after I met him..and decided to call him DEAR uummm… I wasn’t able to keep my vow. He came like a storm… literally! His world turned upside down too! We were caught up in the “Romeo and Juliet” series:) Special thanks to our sponsors the Suncellular Network, Skype, YM, Globe landline, Supercat,Heaven Star and many more… i mean I express my gratitude to all those who helped us, understood us, stood with us and prayed for us during those “perilous times” All things work together for good. The experiences made our relationship strong and made us to acknowledge God’s mercy and sovereignty.God’s will prevails and I thank God His will did prevail! Its been a year now since we got married (thanks to our parents and all who supported) and not a single day do I not praise God for giving him in my life.
Let me count my blessings. He is a saved Christian and a Baptist believer. I’m glad I stayed in the castle and waited for my prince. My cousin used to tell me not to marry an unbeliever because when you have problems you can not have the opportunity of praying together while holding each other’s hand. I cannot count with my hands the many answered prayer requests we have from God from our joint prayers. I am glad that someday if we will not die together and either of us will die first, one will be ahead waiting for the other in heaven. We will never be apart in eternity.
His faith in God is remarkable. I may be the one who graduated from Bible School but when it comes to claiming Biblical promises, I found him to be like a child completely trusting his father. When problems come, I panic, but by God’s grace I can see his childlike faith in our Heavenly Father. Among the many things I’ve learned from him one stands dominantly – if we only really know who God is and what He can do, we don’t have to ask nor worry for our needs, He will surely supply those so when we ask, lets ask Big things! Goals that will glorify God mightily! My husband is not without mistakes but in everyday we live together I believe he is drawing me closer to God.
I have seen how by God’s grace he lived a God fearing life and in some special ways I learned from him what it is to trust, obey, submit, stand for the truth, learn in silence, to be disciplined, be content, to not judge others easily, to be careful with what I say lest I be judged and tested, follow the Pastor, support the missionaries, give, love our families,to listen, be a leader, shut up when foes assail us, value work, be strong when all else fails, to give others second chances, forgive and forget, not to hold on to this materialistic world, accept failure, value our marriage and love for each other, pray, live life trusting God alone. Everyday, I’m still learning from him. He may not be perfect but I believe he practices principles taught from the many how-to -do books I’ve read ( and to think he is not much into reading only reading emails and emails and emails!:) Ive seen how he values the young people, he doesn’t want any of them to go astray and how some of them consider him as their “kuya”( a very strict kuya because one even confided to me that he is so strict, he is becoming more like Pastor Nap!:))Ive seen how his eyes fire up when talking to unruly choir members. As the eldest child I’ve seen how he disciplines his 6 brothers and sisters. Ive seen how he honors his parents. I am a witness how he works till the wee hours in the morning and sleeps for only about 3 hours a day to accommodate all his work and to support our family.Dear is worthy of my love, respect and obedience.
In the lighter side, he is funny and enjoyable to be with. In my laughter I will scold him – “you are one funny guy!” because of his irresistible sense of humor. He works at home and since my only job is to take care of him so we see each other and be with each other everyday, but believe me, I still miss him. Like when I awake in the morning and I see him very intent on his work, I sometimes tell him I miss him for the few hours I slept and was not able to see him:) (this may sound corny but its true!) We chat to each other and still give our favorite YM emoticons even when we are a meter apart! You should hear his endless tales of how he took care of his siblings. When he starts talking about their unforgettable baby days his brothers and sisters will start complaining because he will not stop until he will enumerate all the weird things they do as babies. The stories have been told for a hundred times but the whole family will still listen and laugh with glee!
As with other relationships opposites did attract! I am usually talkative and bubbly while he is generally stoic and strict. I tend to talk all that is my mind, he learns in silence. I easily forget events in the past year, he doesn’t.As I mentioned earlier, I grew up waking up in the wee hours of the morning to eat food, while he was obliged to go to the market at 2 am even when he was still small. He forgets to eat, I don’t! He likes viand with no bones like calamares I adore bangus. He plays well in basketball, volleyball, badminton etc but me? Maybe the only ball I learned to play with is jack stone ( I was such a loser in sports that my PE teacher told me I was holding the bat like I was holding a scepter!) he is practical, I am emotional. When he starts something, he will not stop until he finishes it, I cant make an article in just one sitting. He is conservative, I am liberated. He loves math I love reading. I love spaghetti he prefers fried chicken. Vegetables is not particularly his favorite food but I love all kinds of fruits and fresh veggies. I love color matching with my clothes, he only likes the color blue! Wait, let me stop this..the list is endless. Now take note we also fight like any normal couple do,because we are so different from each other but our difference complements us,draws us more to each other and keeps me on my knees.
But of course!, we both love music- he plays sax, flute, guitar, I cherish my accordion and I dream to have my own piano someday! He sings tenor I sing alto. We both like teaching kids and dealing with young people. We both love puto maya in the morning. We are both stubborn. We love hearing God’s Word. I love it when we hold hands together when listening to the sermon. (I also don’t like it when we don’t sit together in church because I cant confer to him immediately about my thoughts on the sermon, because when we are apart I tend to forget what I want to share to him, I like it when I am able to outrightly let him know my ideas… sometimes I am afraid our pastor will scold us for talking during the sermon:) We both enrolled in Bible School and engineering courses. Alas! This can go on too!
Now after a year, he did caught up with my eating frenzy and starts gaining weight!I learned to keep my mouth shut and be calm in trying times (but sometimes I still lose control! Huh!) I learned a lot of computer stuff and terms. He is slowly learning flowing piano playing. đŸ™‚ We have learned to hear to each other even if we don’t speak. We are building memories together that someday there will be more chances of laughing by just exchanging knowing glances when we are reminded of someone or something in the past. I think I am more obedient to him now,, right DEAR? =)
Let me conclude with Thanks. I thank God for the opportunity to know and love and share my whole life with this kind of person. I thank my Dear for being strong and loving me dearly, accepting my faults and failures (watching me sleep even when I snore hahaha) and supplying my emotional needs. We are encountering many trials now because not all days are happy days but we can hurdle all this together by God’s grace! I am excited for the years to come… Come on… The best years are yet to come!
Happy first wedding anniversary! (thanks for the neoneo dinner!) -iloveudear- (no spaces between!)
