The 5 Most Effective Exercises and Training Techniques That’ll Get You Kicked Out of a "Normal" Gym

The most effective exercises and training techniques are those that push your body to the limit…they activate more muscle fibers, challenge your balance and stamina, and push your strength to the limit!

Oddly enough, they can kick out some gyms too! (Not that I know from personal experience or anything…)

These top 5 techniques are some of the best for achieving your goals. Use them wisely!

1. Partial Lockout Squats

This exercise will appeal to any self-respecting gym owner, especially one who doesn’t invest in quality Olympic bars and weights.

Why? Because, when you do this exercise with heavy weights (as you should for maximum success), your standard “el-cheapo” olympic bar will bend and bend CONFIDENTLY.

If and when the gym manager sees bent bars and you’re the only one using heavy weights on them…

So how do you do Lockout Partial Squats? They’re simple – basically, you place the safety rail in the power rack below the highest point of the squat. Then you put bars on those rails. Then you pick up a lot of weight (you can warm up with a one-rep max).

Once the bar is in place, go under, place it on your back and finish the closing. It’s that simple!

I use the squat lockout as a static hold, standing with it and just supporting the weight at the top – I use 950 lbs on the bar (10 plates on both sides) using a bar rated at 1500 lbs. As you can see, I learned my lesson on bar bending!

2. Fat-Loss Circuit Training

This is a training technique that is AMAZING for fat loss. It will boost your metabolism like nothing else. So why should this get you kicked out of the gym?

Let me tell you how it works first…

In the simplest way, you do the same exercise, but instead of resting completely between sets (for example doing a set of 8 reps instead of sitting on a bench for a minute doing nothing), you will do 30 to 40. Seconds of cardio training at moderate intensity.

It looks like this:

1 set of 8 reps bench press

40 seconds of jogging on the treadmill

1 set of 8 reps bench press

40 seconds of jogging on the treadmill

1 set of 8 reps bench press

40 seconds of jogging on the treadmill

1 set of 8 reps bench press

40 seconds of jogging on the treadmill

And so on, for the rest of the exercises…

It’s deceptively simple and looks easy… but let me tell you, when you do this with regular exercise, you’ll be amazed at how much it revs up your metabolism.

So why will this technique get you kicked out of the gym?

Yes, as great as this technique is, it requires you to go back and forth between weights and cardio equipment. To do this (and this is only a problem if you train at a busy gym) you will need a weight training area and cardio machines. Most gyms scoff at this sort of thing, especially during busy times. Chances are, your stations will no longer exist when you leave them.

Fortunately, recovery is easy with a simple change! Instead of using a machine for cardio, you can jump rope, go up and down on a bench or stairs, or you can run in place.

3. Powerlifting or Olympic Lifting in General

If you go to Bally’s, or any similar type of machine-oriented commercial gym, and start doing Power Cleans (or Olympic lifts) in front of an “instructor” or trainer, then it’s a good idea to ask you. stop (been there!).

Why? Duty. You see, if you know what you’re doing and know how to do the exercises safely, that’s one thing.

But someone watching you do this exercise (who may not have enough experience to do it safely) may decide to try it and injure themselves.

And of course when that person drops that barbell on their leg or stabs their back, they’re going to sue Bally, which is Bally’s main concern here.

The fact is that Power Cleans and Olympic lifts are great for building explosive power. They are NOT dangerous at all when properly trained and under knowledgeable supervision. In fact, the injury rate in competitive sports is much lower than something as simple as running!

It’s all in proper teaching.

4. Treadmill in reverse, run and walk to burn the quads

You probably know by now that the treadmill can be a great tool for building muscle… it’s not immediately obvious how.

You see, if you have stubborn quads, blood supply is probably part of the problem. Most chronic muscle groups are associated with anemia.

Think about it this way…which parts of your body are prone to breakouts? Which one is harder to boil? Which ones are the easiest to develop? I can tell you with certainty that your muscles that are the easiest to develop are the easiest to develop.

Back to the treadmill. Most people face their backs when using the treadmill, which is fine… even encouraged, if you will.

But twist and run or walk on the treadmill backwards (and put the machine on the incline) and you have a workout that will burn your quads more than you think.

And in the process of burning this, you bring more blood to the quads than you can in any other exercise. This increased blood flow will really help improve circulation to the quads, which will help with future muscle growth.

Very effective stuff.

So why might this training technique get you kicked out of the gym?

Yes, standing backwards on the treadmill increases the overall risk of even using a treadmill in the first place. This is why you MUST keep a firm grip on the rail when you run or walk on it. You should be able to support yourself on the rail at all times and off the belt.

But most gyms don’t have this level of trust in their members. Even with such a safe and effective technique, it can fall into the “different = bad” mindset.

Here’s the thing…when you hold the rail tight when using this technique (and you can get off at any time), I think it’s actually safer than running FOREVER on the treadmill!

5. Deadlifts

The deadlift is one of my favorite exercises…there’s just something satisfying about grabbing a really heavy bar and lifting it off the floor. It doesn’t matter…whether you lift or not. And the crazy thing is, I almost got kicked out of more than one gym for deadlifting in the past!

The first time was at the gym in Ft. Lauderdale. I was deadlifting, minding my own business, not hitting the bar on the floor or dropping it or anything like that, when the trainer came over and said,

“I’m sorry. We don’t allow deadlifts in this gym. They make a lot of noise.”

And I really felt sorry for the poor guy who had to come and say this… I could see in his face that he knew the stupid rules and the stupid reasons but had no choice but to enforce them. .

(Apparently the coffee shop on the first floor didn’t realize there was a GYM upstairs when they opened and they keep complaining about the noise…)

So I asked him “How about I just deadlift instead of putting the weight on the floor between reps AND I’m going to be very gentle when I put it down at the end of the set. You won’t hear the peep. .”

I showed a set of constant tension deadlifts (which is a great variation on deadlifts, by the way… you’re doing the exercise without letting the weight plate touch the floor between reps… It’s really hard to do in heavy weight. ).

He seemed suspicious but said it was fine and I could complete my workout for the day without getting kicked out.

The second time was at Gold’s Gym in Nassau, Bahamas. This time, I did a heavy singlet – still haven’t dropped the weight or lowered it. Then, in between blasts from the speakers, I heard…

“Please don’t put weights on the floor, it disturbs the other members of the gym.”

So I’m still thinking, hey, I’m not dropping weight on the floor. I set the bar doing heavy singles. So I go on and AGAIN on the loudspeaker I hear (in a VERY solemn voice now)…

“Gym users who drop weights on the floor are asked to leave the premises.”

Disgusted, I removed the bar, put the safety rail in the closest position to below the locking position, put 10 plates on both sides and then pushed the ever-loving [email protected] from that bar with partial lock squats from the example. #1 in this post…

I’m just kidding! I only used 9… đŸ™‚
