Before continuing, I must admit that I did starve myself before learning what I am about to tell you. The problem with any starvation diet is that you mess up your metabolism, and since it’s the engine that runs our bodies, we really shouldn’t be messing with it. I hope that since I have made a mistake, I can save you from it too.

You see what happens when you go on a starvation diet, because your metabolism is used to burning more calories and you’re putting in less. So an early diet does the trick. But the problem is that once you stop the diet you gain the weight back because now your metabolism thinks it only needs to burn fewer calories and you go back to your normal diet so you automatically gain the extra pounds back.

I will try to explain in numbers. If you’re eating an average of 2000 calories a day and cut your food intake to 1000, your metabolism will burn 2000 and you’ll basically lose weight, but over time, you’ll lose less and less weight because your metabolism is burning. Low calories! Let’s say 30 days into your diet, you lose all the weight you want and you go back to a regular eating schedule. Then the problem arises. Your metabolism is stuck in a mode where you burn 1000 calories and you put 2000 back into your body. By the time it catches up with you, you’ll gain all the weight back and maybe some extra. So all your hard work is for nothing!

To avoid this problem and messing with your metabolism you need to learn how to burn more calories as you continue to eat and not starve.
