Starving yourself or skipping meals in an attempt to lose weight or burn fat is another bad habit. Don’t do this because when you do, your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto food.

It slows down your metabolism and burns fewer calories per day. To lose weight, you need to burn more calories every day. One way to increase metabolism is to eat several meals a day and not starve.

Here are some good habits you can adopt today;

1. Have a smoothie or protein shake instead of pancakes or waffles for breakfast.

2. Eat egg whites with tomatoes and peppers instead of the usual bacon and cheese omelet.

3. Substitute soy milk for whole milk.

4. Use honey mustard instead of mayonnaise on your sandwich.

5. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day instead of soda or juice. Diet sodas are not ideal because the body that does not know how to break down these artificial sugars cannot recognize the artificial sweeteners in the drinks.

6. Use whole wheat bread instead of white. Add more whole grains to your diet.

7. Replace white rice, pasta with brown rice or brown pasta.
