Once you achieve a healthy weight, by relying on a healthy diet and physical activity most days of the week (about 60-90 minutes, moderate intensity), you are more likely to be successful in keeping the weight off long-term. Losing weight isn’t easy, and it takes commitment.

· What you need to know: Relatively safe, but unlikely to cause weight loss, long-term effects unknown.

Product: Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

· Claim: Reduces body fat, reduces appetite and builds muscle

· What you need to know: Can lose fat and build muscle, but unlikely to reduce weight.

Product: Country Mallow

· Claim: Reduces appetite and increases the number of calories burned.

· What you need to know: Contains “Ephedra” which is dangerous, possibly unsafe and should be avoided.

Product: Ephedra

· Claim: Decreases appetite

· What you need to know: May cause high blood pressure, heart rhythm irregularities, insomnia, seizures, heart attacks and death.

Product: Green Tea Extract

· Claim: Increases calorie and fat metabolism and reduces appetite.

· What you need to know: Limited evidence to support claims may cause vomiting, bloating, indigestion and diarrhea.

Product: Hoodia

· Claim: Decreases appetite.

· What you need to know: There is no conclusive evidence to support the weight loss claim.

Weight loss can be a life-changing experience. I know that because it happened to me. My previous fat life is over and a healthy and lean one is spread before me. This is the beginning of a wonderful and healthy life. You can start by reading any weight loss articles that interest you. Read articles on nutrition and diet. To help you end unhealthy eating. Stop living your couch potato lifestyle, don’t buy foods that tempt you to break your diet!

One tip I’ll give you is that since we’re getting ready to go on the “big eating” holidays, it’s not a good time to start a new diet plan. With all the temptations of amazing food always a big part of our holiday tradition, you might want to wait and make your diet plan a “New Year’s Resolution”! 🙂
