Is Nutrisystem Really Less Expensive Than Buying Groceries Containing Diet Foods?
Sometimes I hear from people who have heard claims that you actually save money on your grocery bill by eating Nutrisystem foods instead of trying to make your own meals. Of course, people can wonder about these claims. Although we all know that the prices of today’s groceries can cause a shock when you look, Nutrisystem food has a price associated with it as well.
A typical comment goes something like this: “I’m looking at Nutrisystem’s prices. And I’m reading that it’s anywhere from $8 to $11 a day, depending on the plan. Just wondering. “I’ll try to break it down to give you an idea of how the costs compare in the next article.
Your grocery shopping needs to go down when you go to Nutrisystem: Some people feel that all you have to do with this diet is eat the prepackaged food they send you. It doesn’t have to be that way. You need to add a new snack to each meal. They ask you to add fresh vegetables, fruits, milk and whole grains. And that requires sales. It might sound like a lot, but it’s not. It’s about small meals that you can often buy in portions. An example would be an apple, string cheese, a slice of lean meat or a slice of whole grain bread. The reality is that for most people, grocery shopping doesn’t add up to that much money. Many people are already buying these types of food for their families. I think you can buy a week’s worth of groceries for under $30.
How much do you spend on typical groceries?: If you try to do some research on this, you may find that the estimated monthly grocery budget can vary greatly. This is because individuals and families spend money on goods as a percentage of their income and based on the size of their household. Of course, you’re best off asking about how much you spend each week or month on groceries. The number you are looking for is the amount of goods you spend on yourself and not on your family. The reason for this is that although you eat out and most of your meals are covered and served, your family’s meals are not. So, you still need to buy things for the rest of your family.
I was interested in finding out about the cost of groceries for American families and individuals to get a rough idea of how much people spend. And I was able to find 2009 statistics from The US Bureau of Labor Statistics that found that the average American spent $6,443 a year on food. Statistics from the Census Bureau indicate that the average household size in the United States is 3.14 people. So if we divide one number by the other, that would be about $2148 per year for each person. If you think about that on a monthly basis, you’re looking at $179 per month per person, on average.
Now, if you look at the rough estimate I gave above for grocery items, that’s about $120 a month for your retail side. That’s $60 less than the average grocery price. This means that if you are close to these estimates and averages, you will spend less on groceries with food, even if you have to buy groceries for additional items. Of course, these are just averages. You may spend more or less than average. But I think it’s important that you can eat for less or at least for an amount comparable to what most people spend at the grocery store. If you’ve ever tried cooking your own meals, you probably already know how expensive health or nutritional foods can be at the grocery store.
