  • 1) Eat 6 small meals a day – If you can’t eat 6 small “full” meals a day, try at least 1-2 extra snacks every day (a handful of nuts, yoghurt, fruit, etc.) but remember to keep your calories in check!
  • 2) Eat more protein – This is simple. Eating more protein will make drastic changes to your body in a short time and it’s easy to do!
  • 3) Increase the intensity! – When you do a workout, stop doing the traditional “long boring cardio”. I’ll be honest: it’s worthless! Increase the intensity and do intervals for MUCH greater benefits.
  • 4) Drink more water – Water makes up approximately 70% of our body weight and is vitally important to the function of EVERYTHING in our body including metabolism and the appearance of your muscles!
  • 5) Eat fewer carbohydrates – There’s a common myth that “fat turns to fat.” Well, not exactly. I can guarantee you that if you replaced (calorie for calorie) your carbohydrates with healthy fats, you would lose weight. I’m not saying go on the Atkins diet, but try to stick to a low-carb diet that consists mostly of slow-digesting carbs and vegetables
  • 6) Eat slow-digesting carbohydrates – Going back to point 5, anytime you eat carbs it should be slow digesting (i.e. low glycemic index). This helps stabilize blood pressure which results in less fat.
  • 7) Strength training is essential – If you’re not strength training to build muscle, you’re not even close to how much fat you could burn. Don’t turn into a skinny fat person!
  • 8) Drink ONLY water – I know I’ve mentioned water before, but it bears repeating in a different context. The last study I read said that about 25% of the average person’s diet was liquid. This means that based on a 2,000 calorie diet (it’s probably more like 3,000 for the average person), about 500 of those calories are in the form of sugar water like soda, juice, etc. Cut out everything but water and maybe a cup of coffee in the morning and you’ll lose weight instantly.
