However, the reality is that pregnancy affects every part of you and can take up to a full year to recover from. Celebrities also have plenty of fitness gurus and expert dietitians surrounding them to help them recover quickly (although “quick” recovery may not be in the best interest of your health).

So how do you lose weight after having a baby? First of all, you have to take it slow. Enjoy the first month or so with your new baby and worry about your weight afterward. When you feel ready to workout, get started! Start very lightly – low impact exercise is the best way to start. This may involve walks (with baby in a sling or stroller) or some light yoga. It’s very easy to pick up the exercise again if you take it slowly. If you don’t, you can go overboard damaging your health and leaving yourself frustrated. You need to be kind to your body – not only did it just carry a baby for 9 months, you also gave birth! Your body needs time to heal.

Nutrition is also important when losing baby weight, especially if you are breastfeeding. You need to make sure you’re getting enough calories to have a good supply of milk and a supply of quality milk. Breastfeeding will definitely help you lose weight too, as your body excretes an additional 500 calories a day for it! If you’re not breastfeeding, it will be just a little more difficult to shift your baby’s weight, but you can still do it easily. The important thing to remember is to have nutritious meals. This can be difficult if you have no idea about nutrition or just don’t have the time, which you won’t do if you’re a new mom! So your best bet is to find a suitable program that will think about nutrition for you and just let you simply follow it into your life. This is what I did and it allowed me to get on with other things like taking care of my newborn!
