Custom Pool Cue Or Production Cue?

The word ‘custom’ has been overused and mentioned in the world of cueing, especially when the cue is for sale, where this one word can give the cue a different status and make it more ‘marketable’ . In some places it is used to classify the two cues…
Some of the answers lie in the definition of the word practice. Custom means ‘made to order’ – if you don’t have access to the build, it’s not a custom sign. If you ‘order’ a token the definition, you have, in the definition of “custom pool cue”. Now, you sell that token. What now? The person who bought it did not make it ‘to order’. Is this still a common indicator? If not, what is it?

On the other hand, if a manufacturer of high-quality brands decided to produce four standard indicators for “off-the-shelf” purchases, these specific indicators are considered production.
There are 3 types of pig production:
- 1. Production Cue – more than 1 cue made according to the manufacturer’s specifications and aimed at the general or specific market
- 2. Semi-Custom or Production Customized Cue – which already exists (easily available) production cues that are “stock” or already have conditions (s)
- 3. Fully customized cues – all cues are made from scratch according to the customer’s specific requirements (material choice, ring shape, balance point, length, weight, taper, etc.)

LIMITED CUES can be of 3 production types:

A fully customized kit will remain a fully custom kit since it was designed with a specific person in mind.
The Manufacturing technique used to produce a cue can affect how a cue is classified as Custom or Production. The cue can be done by hand or by machine. Does the use of CNC eliminate a parameter as a special pool thread? This is another discussion but again, if the cue is completely machine made but the design is specific and original then the answer is clear.
