How to lose weight

In a recent post, Deb, a reader of the God, Diet, Fitness and Weight Loss blog, said her doctor recommended a good place to start shedding a few needed pounds and improving your health is to avoid the 3S. This is great advice if you need to lose weight, improve your health, and live a long, active life. All 3 S’s help you add pounds while wreaking havoc on your immune system making you more susceptible to numerous diseases including heart disease, cancer, diabetes (the 3 most deadly diseases).

Avoid the salt

Our body needs salt. The problem is that we take too much salt. The recommended intake of salt is between 500 and 2400 milligrams. Optimally we should consume between 1500 and 2000 milligrams per day. Sadly most Americans consume 5 times the amount needed. This excess sodium causes heart problems, high blood pressure, calcium loss, increased chances of certain cancers, kidney malfunction, and a long list of health problems not to mention weight gain and even obesity. Being obese and overweight in and of itself adds another long list of potential health problems. Therefore, if you avoid excess sodium intake, you improve your health and reduce the risk of being overweight. Keep in mind that reducing your excess sodium intake only reduces your risk of being overweight, it doesn’t burn fat after you may have already gained too much weight. You have to exercise and build muscle to burn fat.

Avoid sugar

Not just table sugar, but all forms of processed sugars and substitutes are bad for you. Like salt, sugar is necessary for our body to function properly. Not simple processed sugars, but complex carbohydrates that our bodies convert into the energy needed to do anything. Our consumption of sugar or substitutes is far worse than our salt intake. Sugar is in all processed foods. The number one additive in all processed foods, sugar, is also the most addictive drug we could possibly take. You’ve been craving something sweet. This isn’t because it’s good or for you. It’s because your body craves sugar like a drug or alcohol. This addiction causes cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other life-threatening diseases. So, to be healthy, simply limit the sugar you consume. Sugar is the leading cause of death from ingestion. This slowly deteriorates your body down to a cellular level, while wiping out your immune system and adding unusable fat. Obesity kills. Limit all forms of sugar and lose weight while improving your health. Don’t forget to exercise.

Avoid seconds

This is simple. Do not eat too much. Large portions only add excess that becomes indigestible causing overweight. You don’t lose weight by simply eating less. This is news flash for many people. But stop earning by eating less. You will also infinitely improve your health. One thing is inevitably that you will consume less salt and sugar by avoiding the latter. Healthy weight loss includes healthy eating and regular exercise. A key to eating well is avoiding the 3 S. Thanks Deb.
