Health Foods Are Not Always Healthy and What You Can Do to Be Slim and Full of Energy

I thought I had it right: Eat healthy whole foods for life. Walking and cycling were regular pastimes. I’ve seen my brothers succumb to diabetes and thought it wouldn’t happen to me. But here I was, in my mid-50s, and diabetes and arthritis kicked in. Yes, I know there is a genetic component, but it didn’t have to happen to me.

I used to walk around the supermarket and marvel at the obesity of people and the wide range of processed foods. A large number of lanes that I never had to visit because they simply didn’t offer me anything I wanted to put into my body.

So where did I go wrong? Well, it seems that managing my blood sugar levels is the crux of the matter. Sugar may be enemy number one, but it’s not just found in candy and soft drinks. Whole grain granola contains sugar as do wholesome muffins. Even bread and orange juice can contain it. Many of these products also contain hydrogenated oils and harmful chemicals that clog the liver. A healthy liver is another foundation for a healthy tea. It is your body’s largest internal organ and does many things including support your digestive system, control blood sugar levels, and regulate fat storage.

So if your liver is bogged down with toxins from processed foods, it can’t do a great job with its day-to-day functions. Toxins are stored in body fat to keep them away from your organs as much as possible, so if you’re eating a lot of processed foods you’ll need a lot of fat to store toxins.

So today the bread has been replaced with sprouted wheat bread. My favorite breakfast is quinoa with apples, raisins and nuts. I’m eating fresh, slow-cooked meats. In fact I’m eating more protein than before and the hunger pangs no longer plague me. The salads with avocados and olive oil and vinegar dressings and fresh vegetable juices are simply delicious. I have found that if you don’t eat sugar you don’t want it! My blood sugar levels have stabilized and the extra weight on my stomach is disappearing quickly. Yup!
