How to lose weight, especially with healthy ways, can sometimes be daunting. You see commercials with products that promise to lose weight quickly and easily. What they don’t emphasize is the part where they say “with proper diet and exercise.”

Even without their gimmick, you’d still lose weight with proper diet and exercise. If you think that buying their product will motivate you to eat a proper diet and keep exercising, then go for it. Whatever it takes to get you into your dream body is worth it.

But if you’re like most, you want to do it healthily. No creams or elixirs for you. And as peaceful as it is kept, this is the best way to go.

So what are some healthy ways to lose weight. Well, first let’s start with the obvious: your diet. Two things that will make or break your diet are your choice of foods and when you eat. When you get these two things right, you’ll be amazed at how quickly the weight starts to melt away.

As far as food choice goes, low GI foods like lentils, whole wheat, and grains are the way to go. Additionally, foods high in fiber are also great because even though your body processes them and they fill you up, your body still can’t digest them. As such, they add no calories to your waistline. These and other nutritious carbohydrates should make up the bulk of your calories.

You also need to make sure you’re getting at least 25 to 35 percent of your calories from protein. Amino acids help build muscle, and if you didn’t know, muscle burns more calories than fat, so pack your bags!!

And please don’t forget the fat. Fat keeps your brain and other vital organs functioning, plus it helps you feel satisfied after eating. Olive oil is a great choice because it’s high in mono- and polyunsaturated fats. The downside is that it lacks omegas which help fight cancer and other health problems. You can get it from meat, but try sesame or soybean oil instead as using them keeps you away from the saturated fats found in meats.

As for when to eat, try dividing your daily calorie intake into at least 4 meals — 6 is even better. How come? Eating this way keeps your body busy digesting food, and when you digest food, you need to burn calories. This practice also helps boost your metabolism, which is also a healthy way to lose weight.

And the last, but certainly not the least, healthy way to lose weight is exercise. When you start exercising 30 minutes a day in your fat burning zone, you are able to burn fat that diet alone can’t address. Exercise coupled with diet is by far the healthiest way to lose weight.
