Running – A Week Off and Lost More Weight

After a week off from my running program, I’m back to training. The week off is not what it sounds like. I continued running but the distance I covered was significantly reduced. Instead of increasing my mileage like I did every day that I ran, I cut it back to 1/3 of my last run. In this case, my mileage was only 2 miles.

I moved away from pushing myself this time to add another aspect to my workout. Weight lifting is now part of my exercise program. I have to say that lifting weights is easy, as a beginner all I have to do is learn how to lift, The weights used are very small.

The idea for the next 8 weeks is to develop good form while lifting. A great feature, it will lead to a small chance of injury when the weight becomes serious enough to be injured.

Most people who lift weights for the first time are surprised by how much they can do. A well-rested muscle can usually lift more at first. The problem that most people don’t realize is the pain of getting started. This pain is enough to put most people off their feet.

Not starting again because of pain is not the way to start a weight training program. It may be more difficult for men than for women but the first two weeks should be the least amount of weight you can lift. Work on using good form throughout the entire lift each time.

The best part about weight lifting is the sustained calorie burn. Building muscle is always good for keeping the body healthy, but muscle will burn more calories than fat even if you are doing nothing. After a workout, you can sit on the couch and continue to burn calories at a higher rate all day than if you were sitting on the couch all day.

After a few weeks, you’ll start to see how your clothes fit. Muscle is denser than fat, and therefore your weight may not be reflected on the scale at first.

Halfway through week 2 of weight training I looked in the mirror and noticed that I was getting leaner and looking more athletic. I hopped on the scale and noticed I had lost 3 extra pounds. Muscles began to appear in places that were covered with soft tissue.

I think next week I will gain 5 kilos.
