2) Do not drink alcohol. Have a glass of water and drink it again during your meal.
3) You don’t have to eat everything on the plate. If there’s something you don’t like on the board, leave it. Try to save at least some of your food to take home. The portion of the restaurant is very popular and you probably get double the calories you should eat in one sitting anyway.
4) Start with a garden salad or clear broth soup. Soups last longer and are filling when eaten slowly. This helps take the edge off your appetite so you’ll be less likely to overeat when your meal arrives. If you have a salad, choose a vinaigrette dressing instead of a sweet one. Ask for your dressing on the side and dip your garnishes in instead of pouring your dressing over the salad. Salads like Caesar salad are very high in calories. Greek salad with feta and dressing is around 1000 calories, so be aware that salad does not mean low calorie. Don’t get extras on your salad like cheese and bacon bits. These only add extra calories and fat.
5) When you consider the food, avoid any fried or creamed food. Serve with tomato sauce. If you have a sandwich, keep the mayo and butter, and ask for the mustard.
6) If you order a burger, remove the top half of the bun, cut the burger in half and use the other half from the bottom of the bun as a topping.
7) Avoid pasta if possible. There are too many carbs in the dish and the pasta is usually covered in a sweet fatty sauce.
