The Bone Health Revolution Book Review
The Bone Health Revolution
by Vivian Goldschmidt
My good friend Chris recently called to say that his mother’s latest Bone scan revealed that she had lost quite a bit of bone since her last test and the doctor wanted to put her on osteoporosis treatment.
This made Chris uncomfortable and he called to ask what, if anything, I knew about these drugs, their effectiveness, side effects and options. The limited research I did after my own observation of osteopenia a few years ago – not a disease created to sell more drugs, I am convinced – led me to believe that these drugs are not a good option and that there is more to be done. first to strengthen natural bones.
I thought of some of those I knew but told Chris I would get back to him after I got an update and cooperation on my research. Meanwhile, he found this month’s book.
Author Vivian Goldschmidt, has written a book that I would love to write.
Chris is right, the book is a goldmine of up-to-date information on osteoporosis, osteopenia, and the drugs that big Pharma wants to take to slow this “disease”. Dirty little secret – osteoporosis is not a disease at all, it’s just a result of aging. It is inevitable and does not require dangerous drugs to prevent, reverse or slow it down. It can be slow and reversible using diet, supplements and exercise.
Do you know what it means to compare our average bone density with “health” for women aged 20 – 29? As Vivian asks, “Are women expected to keep their bones the same as they get older?” How can we expect to have a “normal” number of bone density compared to a woman who is at the peak of bone health?
It goes without saying that bone density–the characteristic of bone being tested–is not the best indicator of bone health, bone fragility, and strength.
Bone loss associated with aging is normal, bone strength and longevity are what we should be working on.
Here are a few points that Vivian covers in detail in her book:
# Osteoporosis is not a disease, but in fact it is the body trying to correct the imbalance. And there are simple things you can do to correct this imbalance.
# Osteoporosis is inevitable. Anyone can prevent and reverse it easily without taking drugs. In fact, a Mayo Clinic report from 2006 states that more than 37% of women over the age of 50 do not meet the correct criteria for Osteoporosis and go untreated! Are you one of them?
# The active ingredient in Osteoporosis drugs (Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva) is a bisphosphonate. It’s just a fancy name for a common ingredient used in detergents, fertilizers and industrial oils. Would you put them in your body?
It’s not fear mongering and it’s not anti-drug abuse. It is a comprehensive research presented in layman’s language. Vivian began this quest when she was diagnosed with osteoporosis a few years ago and was prescribed Fosamax by her doctor. Science – he has a degree in nutrition from New York University – and the curiosity of scientists drove him to research this so-called disease and the “cure” it provides. many good doctors.
What she saw was shocking and she felt she had to write about it and help other women avoid the potentially life-threatening – even less quality-of-life – consequences of Big Pharma’s response to this “problem”.
“According to a recent article from Consumer Affairs (February 2007), Merck, the manufacturer of Fosamax, has set aside $48 million to set up a fund to defend against lawsuits related to the side effects of Fosamax. common people don’t do that?
Note: Vivian does not say that drugs like Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva do not strengthen bones. They do; its ingredients, side effects, and what we don’t know encourage us to look for something else. And what we still don’t know is whether the action of these bone-building drugs will actually increase bone density while limiting or preventing the formation of new bone that is more fragile than broken bone.
If you suffer from osteoporosis or osteopenia, I encourage you to buy the book and try other natural methods before the drug protacol. I cannot recommend this book enough.
