How To Lose 20 Pounds By Changing Simple Daily Habits

Okay. I will lose 20 kilos. Seriously. Sure, trying to lose 20 pounds in 30 days might be possible, but it’s a terrible goal. Much better is a goal of adopting a daily habit that will get you there, so focus on maintaining that habit for 30 days. Thus, your new habit will lead you towards the goal by itself. After 30 days, your new habit will be so ingrained that it will be easy to stay on track, or at least easier!

That basic idea that will help you achieve any goal: “Do big things by doing small things”.

Now, this is a little unfair. I actually started dieting about 2 months ago and have already lost 10 pounds. But my target was 20 from the start and now I feel stalled. What I did to get me here won’t work to get me the rest of the way.

I started by adopting The South Beach Diet’s 2 Week Starter Diet. If you don’t know it, it essentially means eliminating as many carbohydrates as possible from your diet. No bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes. And nearly every type of snack bar contains flour, so those are gone, too. But you can eat eggs, lean meats, and any veggies you want.

I’m simplifying it a bit, but that’s basically it. You should get the book or search the net for more information if you are interested. I know the diet works because I know people who have used it in the past and it has worked for them.

So I followed that strict diet and lost about 10 pounds in just a few weeks. But then I got to a point and got stuck. After a while, I wasn’t that strict about my diet anymore and I’ve stuck with it ever since. At least I haven’t gone up… yet.

So now I have to adopt a 30 day habit that will get me there. And here it is: “For 30 days I will not eat rice, bread or pasta. I will not eat even after 8pm before going to bed. And I will drink at least one glass of water a day”. If I can do it, then I know I can do it. This set of basic daily habits should get me where I want to go.
