Sometimes we can be such silly people. No matter what reality tells us is possible, we always want to believe the unlikely, especially if we’re trying to lose weight. It could have taken years and years for the pounds on our bodies to slowly gain weight. But when we lose it, we want it gone by tomorrow morning. The fact that someone is overweight is the cause of their daily habits, but when we want to lose weight, we want to ignore it and find a cure that will reduce us in a few days, without changing our lifestyle one iota!

So, think about this, if it takes a number of years to put on that weight, then why would you expect to lose it all in just a few days?

The reason I say this is because if you take a look at what is selling the most in the weight loss industry and the products that are being sold, many of them are trying to sell you based on promises of very quick weight loss. This is because one of the most sought-after products in the weight loss industry is a quick weight loss cure.

Unfortunately it’s the desire for rapid weight loss that is often at the heart of “yo-yo” dieting syndrome, where you don’t end up losing weight.

Let’s say you find crash dieting that’s all the rage. It seems that everyone is losing weight. So you think, “I should give it a try, it will work for me too.” So off you go, completely changing your eating habits. All you have is food from a very small and strict range. Worst of all, because you’ve made such a drastic change in your long-term habits, it gets harder to keep up, the longer you try to stick to the diet. You start fighting with your emotions. Soon enough it’s not just about the food. You start to feel that your freedom is being taken away from you by this diet and you have huge urges and cravings to break free.

We both know what happens next, eventually you get to the point where you say, “A small slice of pizza won’t hurt. I’ve been very good at it and I’m going back to this diet soon after.” ‘ So go eat that slice of pizza.

But it doesn’t end there.

After you eat a piece of that pizza, you think, “Awwww, another piece won’t hurt anyone.” Then the flood gates open.

You’ve released your cravings and then scour the house for every piece of junk food you’ve been keeping hidden away. It’s all falling apart. And before you know it, you’re back full circle.

What was the problem then? The problem was that dieting was always a short-term measure, it was never going to be something we would habitually do over and over again for the rest of our lives.

Seriously, would any of the diets on the market exist if people thought about them before deciding to start that diet? The facts are, it took long-term habits to put that weight on your body. Right there, your own body gave you the exact blueprint of how to lose it.

You must form new habits, but this time these habits must allow you to reach and maintain your ideal weight. I know this may be a bit boring, it’s not a hyped magic cure, but it’s the truth. It depends on you. If you want to use one of the latest products on the market, that’s fine, use it. Always be sure to remember though that any weight you lose is because you’re going to have to, not because this gadget will do the work for you. Use the gadget to form lifestyle habits that not only help you lose weight but keep the weight off. This way you increase your self-confidence while losing weight, because you did it, not a product or service. This is the secret to lasting weight loss.
