If the cavemen had stopped for a high-fat, high-calorie splurge, do you think body fat would have been a bigger problem then?
Fast forward to 2009. Within a 2 mile radius of my home, I can name 14 restaurants where I can sit down and throw back 2,000 calories with just one dish. Stop. Go back and read that sentence again. 2,000 calories from a meal and there are at least 14 establishments in close proximity to my home. What can you conclude from this?

You’re probably saying that in 2009, we’re starved of time, too busy for anything but walking the kids, running out the door in the morning, working long and irregular hours, loving our televisions, going to happy hour and do all things that are so easy to do because they offer the path of least resistance. I would suggest 2 things:
1. Prioritize your best hours; keeping in mind that eating healthy and exercising will keep you alive. The path of least resistance does just the opposite.
2. Ask yourself what is more important in life: exercising for 1 hour a day or being dead for 24 hours?

Chances are you’re chuckling, wondering how the hell can you hunt your own food in 2009? i see it now! How do I chase a 5 pointer through the streets of Manhattan, skin it, gut it, cook it, and get it all ready before 7am? While it paints a pretty interesting picture, that scenario isn’t what Cavemen Concepts is about.
Physically hunting your own food is not the point of this caveman concept. Rather, food hunting is a great example of building your calorie deficit before you sit down to eat. The key phrase is calorie deficit, a term most people never even experience in their entire lives. Try to make a simple deal with yourself, and I’m sure it works because I live my life every day. Teach your body the reward of risk when it comes to sitting down for a meal and you’ll master the complex art of eating. Refuse to eat a large meal unless you’ve worked toward it in some way, such as eating half of lunch so you can enjoy a slightly larger dinner, or cutting out all drinks today except water so you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening and do not exceed the daily calorie intake.
Let’s take a closer look at this concept and discuss ways you can implement caveman concepts into your life to increase your chances of losing weight and fit better in your pants. The next time you sit down at the table, ask yourself a few questions:
* Where am I for the day regarding my calorie intake?
* Is it really worth consuming one hundred, two hundred or even four hundred extra calories?
*What are the consequences of consuming this meal?
*Am I really, really hungry?
*Can I have a handful of nuts or just a side of salad and soup to overcome my hunger?
By asking yourself these questions, you will act wisely and similar to cavemen when they went out into the woods to hunt, kill and prepare their own food.
3. Cavemen didn’t eat processed foods.

Are you hysterical? It seems fun to think about those foods that were served in cave days, but the answer boils down to one word: convenience. Healthy foods spoil quickly, but processed foods last much, much longer.
